ANNE EVERARD DE HARZIR

Oil on canvas.
Anne Everard de Harzir is Belgian artist who started out as a commercial painter working in advertising throughout the 1980’s. She grew her own painting practice in the early 1990’s. Her paintings are a 2 stage process whereby she first paints freely and abstractly onto a surface and then picks a detail, sometimes no bigger than a postage stamp, which she then enlarges and paints a second time, this time in a hyperrealist technique. Her paintings tackle the themes of birth, life and death. Anne sometimes represents a person or an animal in the whirlwind of paint and colour, mixing a tangible precision into an asymetric abstract Chaos where enigma, dream and reality collide.
